The truth behind America’s ‘civilian militias’

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

Armed and extremely… patriotic. Why a growing number of Americans are preparing for a war against their government.

In heavy camouflage gear, Johnny Cochran squats down and shuffles noiselessly along the ground. His target is a large man who, like Cochran, is in military fatigues. Seconds later, Cochran leaps up and stabs the man once, hard, in the neck. The movement is swift, and would almost certainly be lethal, were it not for the fact that the ‘weapon’ Cochran is wielding is a pen.

The scenario I have just witnessed may be simulated, but its protagonists are deadly serious. This is a ‘close combat training’ session given by ‘Fireteam Diamondback’ – an armed militia group, or civilian ‘army’, based in west Texas, in the United States. Cochran, a chain-smoking 39 year-old with a handlebar moustache and goatee whose T-shirt reads: ‘Disgruntled Combat Vet – Right Wing Extremist’, is their leader. Biro-wielding or not, he’s not someone you would wish to encounter in combat.

Will Washington’s Failures Lead To Second American Revolution? – IBD – Investors.com

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

The Internet is a large-scale version of the “Committees of Correspondence” that led to the first American Revolution — and with Washington’s failings now so obvious and awful, it may lead to another.

People are asking, “Is the government doing us more harm than good? Should we change what it does and the way it does it?”

Pruning the power of government begins with the imperial presidency.

EUobserver / Citigroup says only ‘United States of Europe’ will save euro

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

A Citigroup note to clients has warned that the eurozone is likely to fall apart unless the European Union’s member states fuse both on the fiscal and political level.

“Europe needs to stand up and decide if it is going to be a ‘United States of Europe’ or a ‘patchwork quilt’ of independent states,” reads a note by Tom Fitzpatrick, chief technical analyst at Citigroup in New York, first seen by Bloomberg.

The Modern Romans

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Rome fell – a fact of history!

But why? The reasons have never been fully understood. The lessons have not been learned. Many of the same basic mistakes that weakened the once mighty Roman Empire before its toppling by barbarian hordes are now being repeated in America, Britain and the Western world.

You need to understand!

This booklet contains a shocking message – a warning for our day. And unless our peoples and nations wake up and immediately alter their course, they will – in modern fashion, and much more rapidly – suffer a similar crashing downfall!

Volatile euro drives markets down as China demands international response | Mail Online

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

If the euro fails, then Europe fails. If we do not avert this danger, then the consequences are incalculable.’

World markets fell sharply once again today amid fears over the European debt crisis – and the lack of political co-operation to contain it.

The worries left most of the world’s leading indexes now trading below where they started 2010.

The VIX index, which charts the volatility of the U.S. equities markets, is showing levels of volatility not seen since periods of the 2008/2009 crash.

They are currently on par with the instability seen in the markets after the terror attacks of September 11, 2001.

New scale of disaster looms in Gulf of Mexico – Yahoo! News

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

New scale of disaster looms in Gulf of Mexico ORLEANS, Louisiana (AFP) – Concern grew Sunday that the US Gulf coast is facing a whole new level of environmental disaster after the best short-term fix for a massive oil spill ran into serious trouble.

BP’s giant containment box lay idle on the seabed as engineers furiously tried to figure out how to stop it clogging with ice crystals.

The British energy giant, which owns the lion’s share of the leaking oil and has accepted responsibility for the clean-up, has tried to banish the notion that the dome is a “silver bullet” to end the crisis.

Moscow markets cruise missile launched from a freight container

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

This relatively cheap, extra-smart, easy-to-use Club-K Container Missile System, which Moscow has put on the open market, allows cruise missiles concealed in freight containers to be launched from a prepositioned or moving land or sea platform. It is virtually undetectable by radar until activated. No wonder, Iran andVenezuela were keenly interested when the Club-K was put on the market at the Defense Services Asia exhibition in Malaysia this week for $15 million.

Western military experts are calling it a “real maritime fear for anyone with a waterfront.”  The container-cum-missiles, carried by a ship, fishing vessel or truck can approach a targeted coast, highway or international railway and strike behind the target’s missile defenses without alerting radar monitors or even surveillance drones and satellites.

Hot Air » Nashville: The disaster America ignored?

Friday, May 7th, 2010

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has drawn plenty of media attention, and for good reason. It touches on environmental, energy, and competence issues for the American government, and it has cost eleven people their lives. Can we clean up a major spill from an offshore drilling rig? If we can’t stop it from spewing oil quickly, our entire energy policy and the idea of energy independence could be at risk, at least politically.

However, the national media has overlooked another disaster in Nashville. Torrential rains have flooded a major American city, causing over a billion dollars in damage, which puts the crisis among the most expensive natural disasters in American history. Except for a couple of brief mentions, hardly any attention at all has been paid to it at all. Perhaps that’s because, as this video suggests, Tennessee has tried handling it themselves (via Newsbusters):

Why Do So Many Bad Things Keep Happening To The United States?

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

At a time when the American economy is already reeling like a drunken s

ailor, the United States is being hit by what seems like an endless parade of horrible disasters that threaten to push the fragile financial system over the edge.  The massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that is now destroying not only the the entire economy of the Gulf Coast but also the entire way of life for hundreds of thousands of people is getting all the headlines right now, but it is far from the only major crisis that has hit the United States recently.  The old saying, “when it rains it pours”, is certainly applicable to the United States right now.  Already faced with some of the biggest economic problems in a generation, America is also being forced to deal with horrifying natural disasters, rapidly growing environmental nightmares and agricultural problems that could end up being absolutely unprecedented.  So why do so many bad things keep happening to the United States?  Does there come a point when the economic damage from all of these disasters just becomes too much?  After all, how many body blows can the “biggest economy in the world” take and still remain standing?
