Arizona Birther Bill Would Require Obamas Birth Paper – The Two-Way – Breaking News, Analysis Blog : NPR

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Arizona is certainly getting attention these days for controversial legislation.

While the nation awaits to see if Gov. Jan Brewer signs anti-illegal immigration legislation that would authorize law enforcement officials to check the immigration status of people they stop, the state’s House has approved a bill that would require all presidential candidates to prove they were born in the U.S. by producing their birth certificates.

DC Knows that Obama is Ineligible for Office

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Members from all three branches of the Federal government already know that Barack Hussein Obama is ineligible for the office of President. National leaders, to include members of the US Supreme Court, already know that Barack Hussein Obama is not a “natural born citizen” of the United States of America, and therefore, is ineligible for the office he currently holds. (See JB’s new article onThe Bottom Line on Natural Born Citizen)

What they don’t know is how long it will take for most Americans to figure it out, or what to do about it.

Agricultural Apocalypse 2010 : Agriculture

Monday, April 19th, 2010

The food business is far and away the most important
business in the world. Everything else is a luxury.
Food is what you need to sustain life every day.

Dwayne Andreas

When a large segment of the population is facing a drastic cut in income in the face of escalating food prices we have a catastrophic problem in the making. Today we have the simultaneous events of income deflation and food inflation; two high-speed express trains coming down that tracks at each other, a financial crisis colliding with staggering crop losses, which are cutting deeply into available planetary food reserves. Prices of food are again beginning to soar again just as millions are losing the ability to afford a reasonable diet, though little of this is being observed or reported. But soon even the blind will see.

From corn to crude, prices for a wide range of commodities are
on the rise across the globe.
In recent months, global food prices
have been growing at a rate that rivals some of the wildest months
of 2008, when food riots erupted across the developing world.

King Abdullah: Without negotiations – high chance of war

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

Photo: AFPHashemite ruler warns of renewed conflict if progress not made by July deadline. ‘If two-state solution not reached, future of Israelis, others will be very bleak,’ he says in interview with Chicago Tribune

King Abdullah of Jordan said this week that Hezbollah‘s activities in Lebanon and the stalled peace process with the Palestinians might lead to war. “In recent years, without progress, we’ve witnessed two wars in a short period of time.

“There are sources in Lebanon that feel that war is inevitable. The threat of war exists. If we do not bring the Palestinians and Israelis to the negotiations table and if we cross the July deadline – there is a high chance of confrontation. I wouldn’t want to meet with you in six or seven months and say I told you so,” said Abdullah in a conversation with the Chicago Tribune’s editorial board.

Flightradar24.com, which monitors aircraft in flight, shows the impact of the ash cloud as the area affected by closures expands south across Europe

An Icelandic volcano causing travel chaos throughout the world is erupting more strongly, a geologist warned Saturday, as the European aviation control agency said flight disruption would continue for at least 24 hours.

Eurocontrol said no landings or takeoffs were possible for
civilian aircraft in most of northern and central Europe.

But flights were taking place in southern Europe, including Spain, the southern Balkans, southern Italy, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey. Eurocontrol said it expected 6,000 flights in European airspace on Saturday compared to 22,000 normally.

FOXNews.com – Icelandic Volcano Eruption Intensifies

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

A volcanic eruption in Iceland, which has thrown up a 3.7 mile high cloud of ash and disrupted air traffic in northern Europe, has grown more intense, an expert said on Thursday.

LONDON — Ash clouds from Iceland’s spewing volcano disrupted air traffic across Europe on Thursday as authorities closed air space over Britain, Ireland and the Nordic countries. Tens of thousands of passengers were stranded as flights were canceled and it was not clear when it would be safe enough to fly again.

Britain’s Civil Aviation Authority said non-emergency flights would be banned in all airports until at least 6 p.m. (1700 GMT, 1 p.m. EDT). Irish authorities also closed their air space for at least eight hours, along with closures by aviation authorities in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.

Since Richard Brown lost his job to the recession and his Boston home to foreclosure a year ago, he’s been working short-term consulting assignments until he gets back on his feet. In the meantime, he’s been “couch surfing.”

“I’ve lived with my brother, my cousin, my friend and my dad,” he said. “The IRS keeps calling me, asking me: ‘What’s your address?’ And I say, ‘What week is this?’”

Half of America ‘effectively on welfare’ (OneNewsNow.com)

wallet small

A leading free-market economist says it’s not a stable situation for a republican democracy when half of the citizens aren’t contributing to the cost of the government they’re benefiting from.

The Washington-based Tax Policy Center estimates that about 47 percent of Americans will pay no federal income taxes at all for 2009.  Either their incomes were too low, or they qualified for enough credits, deductions, and exemptions to eliminate their liability. (See related report [PDF])

As agents clear out Mexican gangs, more brutal ones move in – Washington Times

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

The bodies that turned up on a squalid back street in the border town of Reynosa in December were no longer human. The torsos showed deep lacerations and punctures; the severed heads were badly beaten and mutilated. Crudely butchered limbs lay scattered across the tarmac stained by blood.

“See. Hear. Shut up, if you want to stay alive,” read a note written – like so many others – in block letters on a splattered poster board.
