With the European Union’s Treaty of Lisbon taking effect December 1, the framework has been hammered in place for what critics fear will be the structure for an authoritarian super state that will strip sovereignty from the EU’s 27 member countries and open the way for a powerful dictator to seize absolute control in the event of a major crisis.
As 2010 gets under way, the new decade promises to be a momentous one for a unified Europe, which does not bode well for the rest of the world as events in the Middle East threaten to spiral out of control and the beleaguered American economy teeters on the brink of collapse.
The Holy Bible prophesies that a seventh, final resurrection of a monstrous, ruthless Roman Empire on the European continent will precede the return of Jesus Christ to establish the Kingdom of God on earth. Individual countries will willingly surrender their freedoms to this all-powerful central authority, weakening their democracies.
Notice Revelation 17:12-14: “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”
For the first time, the Treaty of Lisbon establishes a single EU president and a foreign/security affairs official to speak with one voice for the entire European Union. It also gives the European Parliament increased involvement in the legislative process. The European Central Bank gains official status as an EU institution, and the euro becomes the EU’s official currency. It also paves the way for a common military defense agreement. It essentially strips the right of Britain and other member states to veto new EU rules, surrendering more powers to the European Union.
