Iran Announces Expanded Uranium Enrichment Program, in Defiance of U.N. Sanctions
NATANZ, Iran Apr 9, 2007 (AP)— Iran announced Monday that it has begun enriching uranium with 3,000 centrifuges, defiantly expanding a nuclear program that has drawn U.N. sanctions and condemnation from the West.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said at a ceremony at the enrichment facility at Natanz that Iran was now capable of enriching nuclear fuel "on an industrial scale."

"Preparations to strike Iran's strategic facilities continue," Col. Gen. Leonid Ivashov, president of the Academy for Geopolitical Problems, a Russian think tank, told Moscow-based news service Interfax. "Three major groups of U.S. forces are still in the Arabian Sea and the Persian Gulf. Altogether, they have up to 450 cruise missiles on alert."

Work on measures to combat the threat of bio-terrorism began on Monday amid warnings of a catastrophe if terrorists were to exploit recent scientific advances including gene manipulation and work with viruses.
A United Nations conference opened in Geneva with the aim of strengthening a biological weapons convention from 1972. Diplomats said rapid developments had increased the risk of bioweapons being acquired or developed by terrorists.
Within three years, soldiers could begin testing futuristic devices that make them each "an army of one" by granting them unprecedented capabilities, such as the ability to see through walls thanks to advanced radar scopes and super-protection and super-strength conferred by high-tech armor.
Although some of the technologies could take years to reach actual battlefields, novel devices developed by the U.S. Army's Future Force Warrior initiative such as advanced sound equipment and smarter lasers should be available to active soldiers as soon as 2010, promising to make them more lethal than ever.

Astronomy Picture of the Week
Aurora Over Alaska
Higher than the highest mountain, higher than the highest airplane, lies the realm of the aurora. Aurora rarely reach below 60 kilometers, and can range up to 1000 kilometers. Aurora light results from solar shockwave causing energetic electrons and protons to striking molecules in the Earth's atmosphere. Frequently, when viewed from space, a complete aurora will appear as a circle around one of the Earth's magnetic poles. The above digitally enhanced photograph was taken in 2005 January shows a spectacular aurora borealis above the frozen landscape of Bear Lake, Alaska, USA. The above image was voted Wikipedia Commons Picture of the Year for 2006.

A grim vision of the future
Information chips implanted in the brain. Electromagnetic pulse weapons. The middle classes becoming revolutionary, taking on the role of Marx's proletariat. The population of countries in the Middle East increasing by 132%, while Europe's drops as fertility falls. "Flashmobs" - groups rapidly mobilised by criminal gangs or terrorists groups.
This is the world in 30 years' time envisaged by a Ministry of Defence team responsible for painting a picture of the "future strategic context" likely to face Britain's armed forces. It includes an "analysis of the key risks and shocks". Rear Admiral Chris Parry, head of the MoD's Development, Concepts & Doctrine Centre which drew up the report, describes the assessments as "probability-based, rather than predictive".

You have to be kidding right? Unfortunately this is really happening!
The Next Magazine, a weekly publication from Hong Kong, reported that infant corpses and fetuses have become the newest supplements for health and beauty in China. Not only is the placenta considered a beauty remedy, but also aborted fetuses are much sought after delicacies. In Guangdong, gourmet body parts are in high demand and can even be purchased through hospitals. The magazine's investigations into this form of cannibalism took them to Liaoning province.
According to The Next Magazine, during a banquet hosted by a Taiwanese businessman, a servant Ms Liu from Liaoning province on the mainland inadvertently revealed the habit of eating infants/fetuses in Liaoning province and her intention to return for the supplement due to health concerns. The Taiwanese women present were horrified.
Biblical Perspective
There have ALWAYS BEEN false prophets, wars and rumors of war, famines, pestilences and earthquakes . . . some will claim. It's nothing new. How can you KNOW whether this really IS the end-time generation? Can you PROVE it?
You ARE living in the time of the end. But people have said that for centuries, haven't they? Yes, they have. And, surprisingly, we say it again today. You are living in the time of the end - at the close of an age.
But, where do we get off telling you we are living in the end time when people have been saying the same thing for centuries?
After all, we could practically fill a room full of old and ancient books about predictions of the end of the world. As the story goes: "There have always been people who have said that." There have been people wandering around in religious and astrological circles talking about "the end of the world" from time immemorial.
People Have Always Said - "The End Is Nigh"

The footage of the British hostages thanking Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for his hospitality and forgiveness, like the footage of US Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi covering her head in a scarf while on a visit to Damascus was enough to make you sick.
Must we lose this war?
Tuesday, US President George W. Bush had some clear thoughts on Pelosi's visit to Syria. Bush said, "Going to Syria sends mixed signals — signals in the region and, of course, mixed signals to President [Bashar] Assad….Photo opportunities and/or meetings with President Assad lead the Assad government to believe they're part of the mainstream of the international community, when, in fact, they're a state sponsor of terror; when, in fact, they're helping expedite — or at least not stopping the movement of foreign fighters from Syria into Iraq; when, in fact, they have done little to nothing to rein in militant Hamas and Hezbollah; and when, in fact, they destabilize the Lebanese democracy."
The President's criticism was well-founded. By visiting Damascus, Pelosi strengthened Assad's view that the free world has no problem with his behavior. Syrian Foreign Minister Waleed Muallem made this clear Tuesday when, speaking to a Kuwaiti newspaper Tuesday, Muallen said that Pelosi's visit proved that Syria's international isolation, which began after Damascus masterminded the Februaray 2005 assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq Hariri, is officially over.
