New Demographic Racial Gap Emerges

With the number of nonwhite Americans above 100 million for the first time, demographers are identifying an emerging racial generation gap.

us-flagAmerica’s Changing Ethnic Profile That development may portend a nation split between an older, whiter electorate and a younger overall population that is more Hispanic, black and Asian and that presses sometimes competing agendas and priorities.

“The new demographic divide has broader implications for social programs and education spending for youth,” said Mark Mather, deputy director of domestic programs for the Population Reference Bureau, a nonpartisan research group.

How China Steals U.S. Military Secrets

A spate of recent spying cases opens the lid on China's aggressive military buildup. What's most troubling: It is based largely on U.S. technology.

chinese-theftThe Moo case got under way after two arms dealers, who also work as paid informants, introduced some of Mangione's undercover agents to a French middleman, Maurice Serge Voros. During a phone call on Feb. 26, 2004, Voros asked the agents, who were posing as arms dealers, for help obtaining engines used in the U.S. Black Hawk combat helicopter. The engines, manufactured by General Electric, are on the U.S. Munitions List, a catalog of restricted arms and technology administered by the State Department's Bureau of Political-Military Affairs. It is illegal to export Munitions List items without a special government license.

CHINESE SPYING ON USA

chinese-spyingThe FOX News website carried an AP article on May 10, 2007 entitled “Jury Convicts Chinese-born Engineer of Passing US Military Secrets to China.” The article reported that Chi Mak (age 66) has been found guilty in a jury trial of spying on the USA in behalf of Communist China. Mr. Mak, who is a naturalized American citizen, stole “thousands of pages of documents from his employer [a defense contractor].” The documents were smuggled to China via his brother.

The Mak family spy-ring was caught red-handed with encrypted CDs in their luggage (on a flight to Hong Kong) which contained “data on an electronic propulsion system that could make [American] submarines virtually undetectable.” Mr. Mak will be sentenced on September 10th and faces up to 35 years in prison.

Global Military Alliance: Encircling Russia and China

US sponsored military partnership in the Far East and the Pacific Rim

usmilitaryAlthough Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and Japan are not formally members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), they are linked through military partnerships, affiliated government agreements, a network of partnerships, and bilateral military agreements with the United States and Britain.

The creation of a parallel NATO-like organization in the Far East and the Pacific Rim is part of the international brinkmanship of creating a unified global military alliance. Ellen Bork, deputy executive director of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) and Gary Schmitt, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, have advocated the creation of a military network in Asia similar to NATO in a paper on South Korea written in December of 2006. [1] The PNAC is a US think-tank whose members include Dick Cheney, George W. Bush Jr., Richard Perle, Lewis Libby, Karl Rove, Zalmay Khalilzhad, Richard Armitage, and Paul Wolfowitz.

Photo in the News: Rare "Rainbow" Spotted Over Idaho

June 19, 2006—It looks like a rainbow that's been set on fire, but this phenomenon is as cold as ice.

Known in the weather world as a circumhorizontal arc, this rare sight was caught on film on June 3 as it hung over northern Idaho near the Washington State border (map of Idaho).

The arc isn't a rainbow in the traditional sense—it is caused by light passing through wispy, high-altitude cirrus clouds. The sight occurs only when the sun is very high in the sky (more than 58° above the horizon). What's more, the hexagonal ice crystals that make up cirrus clouds must be shaped like thick plates with their faces parallel to the ground.

When light enters through a vertical side face of such an ice crystal and leaves from the bottom face, it refracts, or bends, in the same way that light passes through a prism. If a cirrus's crystals are aligned just right, the whole cloud lights up in a spectrum of colors.

This particular arc spanned several hundred square miles of sky and lasted for about an hour, according to the London Daily Mail.

Breakthrough Reported In Radio Telescopes And Electromagnetic Weapons

russian-flagMOSCOW. (Yury Zaitsev for RIA Novosti) - A group of Russian scientists from Tomsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow have developed a series of unique compact generators capable of producing high-energy pulses of hundreds and even thousands of megawatts.

This compares with the capacity of a major Soviet hydropower station on the Dnieper or an energy unit at a modern nuclear power plant. The new generators are sources of electromagnetic radiation rather than electricity. Their main feature is a capacity to produce enormous power in a matter of nanoseconds. The impulses can be generated with a very high frequency.

Deal May Legalize Millions of Immigrants

house-speakersWASHINGTON (AP) - In a striking reach across party lines, the White House and key lawmakers agreed Thursday to reshape the nation's immigration laws and give millions of illegal immigrants legal status. At the same time, borders would be tightened.

The compromise brought liberal Democrats and conservative Republicans together with top members of President Bush's team on an issue that carries heavy potential risks and rewards for all involved.

Bloodshed fears over Pakistan strike call

pakistan-riots

Pakistan’s main Islamic opposition alliance has called a nationwide strike on Monday in protest at the military rule of President Pervez Musharraf. Analysts warned that the move could lead to an intensification of violence that over the weekend claimed at least 38 lives in Karachi.

“We want to demonstrate that this country is unanimous in opposing the government,” said Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, a senior leader within the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal alliance of six Islamic parties.

The Truth about Earthquakes

earthquake-damage

Why more earthquakes are coming--and Where! What causes them? What is prophesied about future earthquakes?

SCIENTISTS are being shaken by new, sobering, almost unbelievable facts concerning earthquakes. Recent knowledge has come to light that revolutionizes all previous concepts. These awesome new concepts reveal a threat to human existence that rivals the hydrogen bomb.

Something BIG and ominous is building up deep within the earth. The sudden increase in earth tremors - both in frequency and magnitude - has become a point of growing concern.

(Isaiah 2:19) And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

The Case for Bombing Iran

missle-drop

Although many persist in denying it, I continue to believe that what September 11, 2001 did was to plunge us headlong into nothing less than another world war. I call this new war World War IV, because I also believe that what is generally known as the cold war was actually World War III, and that this one bears a closer resemblance to that great conflict than it does to World War II. Like the cold war, as the military historian Eliot Cohen was the first to recognize, the one we are now in has ideological roots, pitting us against Islamofascism, yet another mutation of the totalitarian disease we defeated first in the shape of Nazism and fascism and then in the shape of Communism; it is global in scope; it is being fought with a variety of weapons, not all of them military; and it is likely to go on for decades.

What follows from this way of looking at the last five years is that the military campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq cannot be understood if they are regarded as self-contained wars in their own right. Instead we have to see them as fronts or theaters that have been opened up in the early stages of a protracted global struggle. The same thing is true of Iran. As the currently main center of the Islamofascist ideology against which we have been fighting since 9/11, and as (according to the State Department’s latest annual report on the subject) the main sponsor of the terrorism that is Islamofascism’s weapon of choice, Iran too is a front in World War IV. Moreover, its effort to build a nuclear arsenal makes it the potentially most dangerous one of all.

Genetic Armageddon Under Construction

Genetic engineering a double-edged sword

genetic-armageddonThis science was promoted in the name of curing diseases; but what about hyperparents trying to create super-babies?

My first son was born in 1984, the year George Orwell predicted the world would be one grim totalitarian state.

The year was not, in that way, an auspicious one for a child to be born. But I liked how we were braving the aura of 1984 doom and just going for it -- full of hope and openness to what chance and our own genetic makeup would create.
